Attachment manufacturer Werk-Brau Co. Inc. has announced its joining of the Open-S Alliance, becoming the latest organization to support the new global standard for automatic couplers.

The partnership will help Werk-Brau to strengthen what it calls its “commitment to innovation,” representatives say. The company’s presence will ensure that the attachments operators rely on every day remain reliable, compatible, and ready for a number of different jobs.

“The Open‑S Alliance exists to bring clarity, safety, and true compatibility to the attachment marketplace,” the company says. “By supporting an open, global standard for fully automatic quick couplers, the alliance empowers operators, dealers, rental houses, and contractors to work more freely—without the limitations of proprietary systems.

“Excavators equipped with Open‑S compliant couplers can interchange attachments from multiple manufacturers, improving jobsite efficiency, reducing downtime, and expanding equipment capability.”

The company has built itself on delivering dependable and high-performance solutions for the construction industry. Joining the alliance is a “natural extension” of that.

Bridging the alliance’s international gap

Werk-Brau has manufactured buckets, thumbs, couplers, land-clearing tools, loader attachments and other solutions for the past 75 years. The company’s decision to join the Open-S Alliance will honor its mission and vision of “Building Better Lives,” it says.

“Werk-Brau has always stood for innovation, integrity, and giving our customers every advantage on the jobsite,” says VP Trevor Ballinger. ”By supporting the Open-S standard, we’re helping create a future where operators have more flexibility, compatibility, and more control over how they work. It’s about doing what’s right for our customers and for the industry.”

The alliance also hosted a press conference at this year’s CONEXPO, where North American members, including Findlay, Ohio-based Werk-Brau, were introduced. Additionally, the alliance gave updates on the latest developments in its coupling standard.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Werk-Brau, a well-known brand and quality manufacturer, as a member of the Open-S Alliance. We can see that the initiative to create an open industry standard is gaining support in North America, as we add another member from the region,” says Stefan Stockhaus, chairman of the board of Open-S Alliance. “To be present at CONEXPO gives us the opportunity to talk about the standard and to continue ongoing discussions with relevant contacts in the industry.”
