John Deere has expanded its partnership with Douglas Dynamics to integrate more Western snow and ice equipment across Deere machines and dealer channels. The move deepens an existing relationship and adds a new mysterious sidewalk-focused machine, which is now in development. For years John Deere has positioned the Western brand as a core piece of its winter solutions portfolio. Western offers plows, pushers and ice control gear that slot onto Deere machines already common in winter fleets. From the press release:

“We are confident that our partnership with Douglas Dynamics [owner of the Western brand and other winter attachment brands like Fisher and SnowEx] will continue to exceed the needs of our customers in snow and ice management,” said Luke Gribble, go-to-market manager, John Deere. “Our customers rely on us to deliver game-changing solutions that address demanding weather environments, and therefore, we will continue to collaborate and develop industry-proven solutions that provide enhanced productivity and performance.”

Gator Utility Vehicles
Contractors and municipalities use Gators for light plowing, sidewalk clearing and salt application. Western fronts that work with straight blades, V-blades, spreaders and brine systems sized for UTV duty.

Compact Utility Tractors
Blades and spreaders turn compact tractors into small-site snow units. Western gear pairs with Deere tractors to handle driveways, paths and campus routes.

Construction Equipment
Skid steers and compact track loaders push serious volume in big lots. Western pushers and plows add capture and stacking ability for faster cycle times in open areas.

A Sidewalk Machine Is Coming

According to the recent press release, John Deere and Douglas Dynamics are co-developing a compact sidewalk machine together. The target user is a municipality, campus or commercial crew that needs tight-area maneuverability with purpose-built snow and ice control. Expect a small footprint, precise control and maybe changable attachments sized for narrow paths. We’re super interested on this mystery machine, and we’ll keep you updated on its progress. From the press release:

“We are proud to grow our partnership with John Deere as we work together to develop exciting new products for our customers,” said Chris Bernauer, President, Work Truck Attachments at Douglas Dynamics. “This collaboration brings together global reach and agile innovation as we shape the future of snow and ice control.”
