Volvo Rents Focuses on Breast Cancer Awareness

Construction teams looking for a way to give back to the community can raise a pink boomlift into the sky as a symbolic message of hope and support for breast cancer patients and survivors. A crew at Volvo Rents, 7096 West Carnahan, Springfield, Mo., has painted one of its JLG 660SJ telescopic boom lifts entirely pink to spread awareness about the impact breast cancer has made on the Springfield community. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death for women. More than 40,000 women in the United States die from the disease each year; more than 800 of them will be in Missouri, according to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO), a Springfield-based non-profit organization.

Each time a crew rents the pink boom, Volvo Rents will donate 10 percent of the rental revenue to the BCFO.

“We have wanted to get involved in a local charity for some time now — and in an unusual way,” said Chris Bowles, manager of Volvo Rents. “The color has become associated with national breast cancer awareness initiatives and organizations, such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Likewise, the pink boom in our rental fleet stands out among the oranges, greens, yellows and blues you typically find in our fleet yard. We’re excited to be supporting this very worthy cause.”

The pink boom lift is now available to rent. To learn more or to find out how to rent the machine in support of breast cancer awareness and research, please call Volvo Rents at (417) 831-9111.

The BCFO provides local resources for those affected by breast cancer, promotes breast cancer awareness and provides resources and support for individuals and their families in the local area who are and have been affected by breast cancer and are concerned with women’s health issues.
