Toro Dingo Loaders Drive into Extreme Pond Build

Living everyday to the extreme seems to be a new American tradition. Whether your house is getting an “Extreme Makeover” or your crews are just cranking the Extreme Sports Channel, pushing the limits has become the pastime of choice for excitement junkies.

Toro considers its machines pretty extreme. The company’s Toro Dingo TX compact utility loaders and attachments can tackle their fair share of severe challenges. Case and point: The Toro Co., in partnership with Payline Equipment of South Elgin, Ill., proved their versatility during the recent construction of Aquascape’s signature 250- by 90-ft water feature, known as the “World’s Most Extreme Pond Build.” The event was held in July at Aqualand, Aquascape’s headquarters in St. Charles, Ill.

“There were five machines on the job that never sat idle for more than five minutes,” said Neil Borenstein, senior marketing manager for The Toro Co. “Because of the versatility and flexibility of a Dingo loader and its multiple attachments, it can take the place of several dedicated pieces of equipment.”

Paired with more than 600 attendees and several large excavators, compact excavators and skid steers, the Toro compact utility loaders may not have been the biggest machines on site, but they may have been the hardest working. Used to move gravel, boulders, rocks, mulch, trees and dirt, the Dingo was able to maneuver into tight spaces where the larger equipment could not. The compact design of the Dingo provided operators with 360-degree visibility, ensuring maximum productivity and enhancing operator and jobsite safety.

To make sure it wasn’t all work and no play, attendees had the chance to test their skills during the “Pond Olympics” event, coordinated and hosted by Aquascape. Individuals and teams had the opportunity to win prizes by completing an obstacle course on which first-time Dingo users were able to experience just how easy it is to learn and operate the machine.

Aquascape vendors donated more than $200,000 in construction materials toward the project that was completed on schedule and within budget. In addition to a Lawn and Landscape sponsorship, along with many others, this event was made possible with the help of Aquascape and Toro Dingo dealers, including Midland Equipment of Billings, Mont., Smith Turf & Irrigation of Charlotte, N.C., and Lentzcaping Inc. of Warrington, Pa.
