The Home Front
Employees of equipment rental leader United Rentals forged a partnership with the organization Operation Homefront, resulting in the donation of mortgage-free homes to five veterans and their families. Operation Homefront provides services for veterans and their families in times of need. On June 1, the keys to the Atlanta-area homes were presented in front of several hundred people, including the United Rentals Atlanta District team, state dignitaries, representatives of the Georgia National Guard and national news media. It was the largest single donation of homes in Operation Homefront’s history.
Wells Fargo Bank, through its REO community development program, makes the homes available to Operation Homefront at little or no cost so that they can be gifted to veterans. United Rentals’ substantial donation was used by Operation Homefront to offset costs related to transferring ownership of the homes to the recipient families. United Rentals is recognized as a corporate leader in support of veterans, with national recognition as a military-friendly employer. The company is an active supporter of ECAD (Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities), a non-profit organization that funds the training of service dogs to assist wounded veterans. In June, United Rentals became the first recipient of ECAD’s UR Healing Award and announced another $25,000 donation to ECAD’s Project Heal.
