Terex AWP Announces Strategic Partnership with National Joint Powers Alliance

Genie is a world leader in the production of material lifts, portable aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, and self-propelled telescopic and articulated booms. Today, it’s a part of the Terex organization. The private and public sector are working together to provide purchasing power. Just yesterday, the Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) segment of Terex Corp. announced a state and municipal purchasing contract award with the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), which serves more than 31,000 governmental agencies, public and non public educational systems and non-profit organizations. The four-year contract will enable Terex AWP to be the NJPA’s exclusive source for aerial work platform products.

“Working with the NJPA is a unique opportunity to increase the exposure of Genie products,” said Rusty Pugh, government sales manager, Terex AWP. “Our products will be able to reach a broad audience while providing a shorter lead time at competitive pricing. We look forward to working with the NJPA and our Genie dealers to provide world class business solutions to government agencies, school districts and non-profits nationally.”

NJPA allows participating governmental agencies to reduce the cost of goods by leveraging their combined purchasing power. “Traditional bid proposals cost an agency an average of $8,000 to complete; this is simply a better way of doing business,” said Pugh.

“Government agencies view contracts as a cost-effective manner to procure equipment,” said Greg Haglin, NJPA contract manager. “Contract purchasing is increasing at a very rapid rate within local and state government purchasing. The speed to acquisition and cost are the absolute drivers.”

The relationship between Terex AWP and the NJPA will be managed by the Federal Contracts Corp, which will monitor the bidding nationwide, advise Terex AWP of opportunities, address questions or concerns, assist dealer sales in quotations. and establish training programs.

Portable Genie Super Series aerial work platforms are simple for one person to set up in minutes. A durable, lightweight design and compact size make them ideal personnel lifts for rental, light-duty construction and maintenance.
