Meet Volvo Construction Equipment’s Global Design Team (Video)

It’s interesting to consider that Volvo Construction Equipment has a Global Design Team, made up of the company’s five top designers, spearheading the company’s biggest projects. In a modern building just outside central Gothenburg, Sweden, Volvo Construction Equipment’s design team consists of handpicked individuals with extensive backgrounds in industrial design. They lead Volvo Construction Equipment’s renowned product development and are constantly at the forefront of technical development. Their ambition is to be the first and the best.

“Volvo Construction Equipment has had a great reputation for design since 1980 and our customers really appreciate it. All surveys show that quality, innovation and design fit together. We realized it would be beneficial to have a dedicated team that took a holistic approach to the whole process,” explains design director Stina Nilima Wickström, in a recent interview with Volvo’s Spirit magazine.

She heads the design team, which consists of studio engineer Roland Schling and the three designers; Gustavo Guerra, John Samuelsson and Viktor Holmqvist. The strategic decision to create a design team was taken in 2006, two years before the world economic crisis. Learn about these five machine thinkers in the video below.
