Hall of Fame Racing Partners with Lincoln Electric
Hall of Fame Racing has teamed with Joe Gibbs Racing and The
Lincoln Electric Co. to fabricate and field NASCAR Nextel Cup racing cars. Hall
of Fame Racing managing partner Bill Saunders and partners Roger Staubach and
Troy Aikman, former Dallas Cowboy quarterbacks, selected Terry Labonte and Tony
Raines to be their co-drivers in the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. The
first-year NASCAR team worked diligently to assemble a strong racing team,
including the welding experts from Lincoln.
Labonte, a two-time Cup Series champion and 22-time Nextel Cup
winner, will drive the No. 96 DLP HDTV car in seven races, while Raines, the
1996 champion of the American Speed Association (ASA) and 1999 NASCAR Busch
Series Rookie of the Year, will drive the No. 96 DLP HDTV car in 29 races.
The crew chief is Philippe Lopez, a veteran of many major Cup
teams.
Hall of Fame Racing and its partner Joe Gibbs Racing, as well
as many other NASCAR drivers and teams, rely on The Lincoln Electric Co. for its
welding fabrication equipment. Lincoln is an exclusive NASCAR Performance
Partner, recognized by NASCAR as developing products used on actual Nextel Cup
Series cars that exemplify NASCAR’s key brand associations of performance,
precision and endurance.
“We look forward to a long and rewarding partnership with Hall
of Fame Racing,” said Mickey Holmes, manager, Motorsports Marketing for Lincoln
Electric. “We are a strong supporter of the sport, and we are glad we can make a
difference in the safety and performance of these high-speed cars through our
products, team fabricator training and technical assistance.”
Lincoln Electric is affiliated with NASCAR series teams at all
levels, including Nextel Cup, Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series, Dodge Weekly
Series and NASCAR regional racing series.
