Global Construction Jetsetters Prepare for bauma China 2012

Asia is one of the world’s hot spots for economic growth. China, India and Russia are three global giants that are re-engineering their countries with industrial sectors, commercial and residential construction and massive infrastructure projects (from roads to water to sewers). To help mobilize this economic construction, the fine folks at Messe München International (one of the world’s leading trade fair companies) is readying their largest Asian trade event yet at bauma China 2012.

bauma China 2012 has already set a new exhibitor record: A total of 2,500 companies have already applied to exhibit at the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment, which takes place in November. This figure exceeds the figure of 1,892 exhibitors who took part in the last bauma China. And we still have a few months to go before bauma China 2012 gets under way; it is to be held between Nov. 27 and 30 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

“It was our aim to offer our exhibitors improved conditions for their presentations in the halls,” says Collin Davis, exhibition group director at Messe München International. “And, as we have eight more halls available for this year’s event, we have been much better able to meet their space requirements.”

bauma China will certainly need all of that space, as the Asian construction machinery markets will again be putting in a very strong showing at the fair. Since 2010 the world’s largest domestic market in the construction sector has been in China. When looking at construction activity in China, media attention focuses on two large-scale projects. One is the diversion of water from the Yangtze and its tributaries in the south to the Yellow and Huai rivers and hence to Beijing and Tianjin in the north, an undertaking second to none worldwide. This mega project, which consists of multiple sections of open canals, is due for completion by 2050. When planning started, the investment costs for this venture were put at an equivalent of around 57 billion euros.

Contractors interested in similarly big international opportunities should plan on attending. All the key international manufacturers will present their machines and products at bauma China, and it’s a great venue to make contact with fellow CEOs, managers, investors and buyers from around the world.
