Fontaine Modification Helps Fleets Spend Less to Go Green
Fontaine Modification Co. is saving companies green as they go green. The company has introduced new installation services that make adding alternative fuel vehicles or auxiliary power units to a fleet a little less expensive. Fontaine, North America’s leading provider of post-production truck modification services, now offers certified installation of alternative fuel engines, alternative fuel delivery systems and auxiliary power units (APUs) for companies embraced in today’s green fleet initiatives. Thanks to Fontaine’s exclusive ship-thru agreements with the major truck manufacturers, the company can provide fleets with professionally certified system installation that encompasses considerable savings in chassis delivery costs.
“Although a couple of the truck OEMs install alternative fuel systems as part of their on-line production process, most do not,” explains Mark Hampshire, Fontaine senior vice president of sales and marketing. “As a result, chassis usually are shipped multiple times to be modified, have their fuel systems installed and their bodies mounted. By the time the customer gets the truck, a big freight bill comes with it. Because our ship-thru agreements allow the chassis to come to us as part of the manufacturer’s post-production process at no additional charge to the fleet, we save the customer considerable freight expense.”
Having Fontaine install alternative fuel systems or APUs is especially convenient for customers that already have their trucks shipped to Fontaine for other services, such as dual driving stations, cab or chassis reconfiguration or fleet services. The alternative fuel systems can be installed at the same time, which also improves total upfit and in-service time.
Fontaine is certified to install alternative fuel engines, delivery systems and APUs at its seven service centers across the United States. The company has engineered and tested the relevant compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) configurations to meet all regulatory requirements and to ensure consistent quality.
