is dropping out. Luckily! Stavros has made a full recovery from the “Gelato Incident” and is keeping me connected with some tinfoil he got from the kind hot dog vendor who also sold me this novelty hot dog. But it’s sure delicious after a long day of working the show. Check out the latest sights the CE media crew took in today, with captions by the CE documentarian and biographer Janeen McGilicutty.
Because of the volcanic delays, attendees were arriving late on day three. So Bauma is working the opposite of most trade shows, with attendance growing each day of the show. (Bonus points to anyone who can spot Stavros in this pic.)
The best booths have working machines — step right up and watch this Yanmar mini excavator work. It catches the attention of these gents even on a cold Wednesday morning.
Ich liebe Kubuta excavators! These customers eye the large range of mini exs at the outdoor Kubota booth. Bauma is a selling show, so what you see is usually for sale.
Great American compact equipment manufacturers like Gehl and Mustang were at the show too. In fact, they were right next to new owners Manitou in the outdoor exhibit area.
Clouds loomed in the middle of week at Bauma, but machines still stood tall. The big news for CE readers is that Terex (owners of the Genie rental line, including this telehandler) plans to launch a new product line in Q4 2010, four new skid steers (with four more slated for early next year).
Here’s an eagle eye’s view of the outdoor booth area. With 555,000 sq m of fully-booked exhibition space, Bauma 2010 is the biggest trade fair in the world.
Some booths tower as large as the cranes being exhibited. It took some exhibitors over four weeks to construct their booths for the show.
Every exhibitor is using unique gimmicks to get attendees into booths (big acrobatic shows, free food and beer and lots of sweet merch). Here New Holland lets contractors build roads with a videogame that reads body movements.
Komatsu lured attendees into their booth with cool machines and lots of free food and drink. These guys consider this super small Komatsu skid steer. From the looks of the booth, there’s plenty of machines to go around.
Caterpillar has the biggest indoor booth at Bauma, nearly taking up an entire hall (that is one of 16 halls). Consider that Las Vegas, America’s largest convention center, has only three main halls when used for CONEXPO – CONAGG.
