Central Illinois Ag Will Dig for the Cure
Central Illinois Ag is joining the fight against breast cancer. They have added three Takeuchi machines to their construction equipment rental fleet, adorned with pink decals and light pink boom arms. Over the next four years, 10 percent of rental revenue garnered from these machines will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of McLean County, Ill.
“It has been a priority of ours to find ways to better partner with the community, raising awareness for special causes. This cause is particularly special, since breast cancer has affected a number of our friends and colleagues,” says owner Michael Schmidt. The employees of Central Illinois Ag quickly rallied around the idea and local companies were eager to help. Darin Schempp of Atlanta, Ill., assisted by deriving the light pink paint code and painting the machines, Prairie Signs in Normal, Ill., developed a logo and machine decals, and Farmer City, Ill., photographer Sam Harnack offered her services to help spread the word.
Dig for the Cure was proposed by store manager Matt Worthington, having seen other companies across the country paint rental machines to support a number of different causes. Using Takeuchi construction equipment for the cause was particularly fitting. “Our Takeuchi regional manager Dale Keller is a close friend, and his wife Tammi recently celebrated her 10th year cancer-free, after battling and beating Stage 3 Breast Cancer,” says Worthington.
Owner Steve Schmidt has envisioned a scenario where not only their cause is aided, but other companies continue to follow suit for causes in their respective areas. “If the program is successful, there are plans to add as many pink machines to our fleet as the region’s industry can support.”
