Case Selected by Cargill as Preferred Equipment Supplier
Cargill Inc. is currently the largest privately held corporation in the United States (in terms of revenue that is, which was $128 billion in 2008 — 3.64 billion of that was profit). Cargill’s business is purchasing, processing and distributing grain and other agricultural commodities, including the manufacture and sale of livestock feed, ingredients for foods and pharmaceuticals.
Working the worldwide business of agriculture means Cargill must constantly utilize equipment. One of the company’s favorites is Case Construction Equipment. In early October, Cargill announced Case as one of four preferred suppliers of construction equipment to its global operations.
“We are excited to be one of Cargill’s preferred equipment partners. They are an industry-leading organization and a globally respected company,” said Pat Hunt, director of strategic accounts, Case Construction Equipment. “We’re confident that Case wheel loaders, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, excavators and other equipment will deliver the value and performance Cargill requires. We look forward to supplying and supporting their locations in the years ahead.”
Cargill operates in 68 countries. According to Hunt, Case will support Cargill’s equipment needs through its global network of 11,500 dealer locations throughout the world. Cargill was founded in 1865 and today the privately held company employs 159,000 around the globe and has become one of the big success stories of the great State of Minnesota (where the business is based). These smart folks understand the Ag industry, which means they also know their equipment.
“Case has an outstanding reputation and has earned preferred supplier status based on key criteria defined by those involved in equipment procurement and operation in our businesses,” said David Link, senior sourcing manager for Cargill. “This includes the performance and quality of Case equipment, the strength of its dealer network, a commitment to uptime and the can-do attitude of its people. We expect our partnership with Case to help us improve our operations, reduce costs and better manage our assets.”
